Edit text on a filled form

Forms put text inside boxes and on ruled lines, so an erased entry usually takes part of the rule with it. Select the entry and type the correction; the rule and the box underneath are continued.

What makes this one hard

The lines are the problem. A rule passing under a word has to continue at the same weight and position through the edit, and a break of even one pixel is visible because the eye follows a straight line further than it reads a letter.

Will it break the lines on the form?

The ruled line under the text is continued through the edited area rather than painted over, so it stays unbroken.

Can I edit an official form?

Not to mislead anyone. Drafts, templates and your own records are fine; altering a submitted or official form is not, and our terms prohibit it.
